Who Should Apply
The Data Science and AI Scholars program is open to undergraduate students from all majors who are interested in data science, artificial intelligence, and applied research.
You’re a good fit if you’re curious about data or AI, enjoy learning by doing, and are interested in research, mentorship, and community.
Prior experience is welcome but not required.
What Scholars Do
Scholars:
- Work on faculty-mentored research projects
- Apply data science and AI techniques to real problems
- Serve as peer mentors in foundational data science courses (IS 296)
- Participate in professional development and cohort activities
Eligibility
- Enrolled undergraduate student at UMBC
- In good academic standing
- Able to commit time during the semester
